Secrets of Longevity in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Seize the First Five Minutes After Waking to Open the Seven Orifices, Nourish the Five Organs, and Expel Illness!

Nov 17, 2025

The Huangdi Neijing states: “The five organs constantly communicate internally with the seven orifices above.”

In TCM wellness, regulating the seven orifices is essential. When the seven orifices are unobstructed, organ functions accelerate, helping ease bodily discomfort.

By opening the seven orifices, nourishing the five organs, and dispelling illness,

you only need _five minutes in the morning_ to open the seven orifices, nourish the organs, and remove ailments!

  1. _Open the Nasal Orifice_

Place both thumbs on the Yingxiang points. As you inhale, massage one side of the nose; after finishing, exhale forcefully, then switch sides.

After massaging both nostrils, inhale and push upward from the Yingxiang point along the nose wings to the inner eye corner. Exhale and push downward along the nose wings to the corner of the mouth.

  1. _Protect the Oral Cavity_

The mouth is very important. If one develops "hanging thread wind" (facial paralysis), the mouth may become crooked and the eyes misaligned, potentially progressing into hemiplegia. Massaging Dicang, Renzhong, and Chengjiang points can help prevent facial nerve paralysis and hoarseness.

Press both thumbs on the Dicang points. Inhale; keep one side still while massaging the other. After finishing, exhale through the mouth, then massage the other side. After both sides are done, begin pushing movements—inhaling while pushing toward the mouth corner and exhaling while pushing away from it.

Next, inhale and massage the Renzhong point with one index finger, exhale and stop. Inhale again and massage the Chengjiang point with the other index finger, exhale and stop. Inhale once more and massage both points simultaneously, then exhale and stop.

  1. _Nourish the Ear Cavity_

Autumn and winter are key seasons for regulating ear-related issues.

If the right ear has diminished hearing, press the left Ear-Hearing point with the tip of your thumb while making an “ah-ah” sound and massaging the right ear. Then release the right ear to check for improvement.

  1. _Massage the Eye Area_

  2. Rub your hands until warm, place your palms over your eyes, and massage as you exhale.

  3. Press the Jingming points with your thumb and index finger, close your eyes, and press while inhaling; massage while exhaling.

  4. Press the Tongziliao points with both thumbs—hold still while inhaling, massage while exhaling.

  5. Press the Zan Zhu points—hold while inhaling, push up and down while exhaling (both sides simultaneously, one side pushing upward and the other downward).

  6. Press the Yuyao points—push up and down while inhaling, and left and right while exhaling.

  7. Use thumb and index finger to press the Sizhukong and Tongziliao points—hold while inhaling, massage while exhaling.

  8. Hold while inhaling, and massage the Yangbai and Sibai points while exhaling—first up and down, then left and right.

  9. _Stir the Tongue_

_Tongue Against the Upper Palate_

Sit quietly with eyes closed and mind calmed. Lightly touch the upper palate with the tongue tip, focusing your mind and harmonizing breath. Gently rotate the tongue tip on the hard palate, 36 circles clockwise and 36 counterclockwise.

When saliva fills the mouth, swallow it in three portions. The swallowing should make a gurgling sound, sending the saliva straight to the _Lower Dantian_. With long-term practice, internal fires of the organs are soothed, qi and blood flow smoothly, the channels are harmonized, and longevity is enhanced.

_Red Dragon Stirs the Sea_

Use the tongue tip to lick the inner gums from left to right and top to bottom, circling tightly along the upper and lower gums, 36 circles in each direction. Then lick the cheek-side surfaces of the upper and lower lips, 36 times each, following the same order.

When saliva fills the mouth, swallow it in three portions. Practiced long-term, this method strengthens the teeth, fortifies the spleen and stomach, lightens the body, and dispels disease.
